Business to take over empty Argos unit in Ayrshire town centre

The vacant Argos shop in Kilmarnock is set to be back in action within the coming weeks.

The iconic retailer axed its shop in the town in May, leaving a giant space behind in the Burns Mall.

However, now it appears a business is preparing to fill the empty site.

The Sculpture Placement Group is set to take over the store "in the coming weeks" according to a sign pinned on the shop door.

The firm will be displaying sculptures in the windows of the shop, although it's not been determined whether items will be for sale.

According to the company's website, Sculpture Placement Group is primarily a research organisation that "advocates for more sustainable practises in the arts and improves the economic conditions of artists."

Argos closed on May 28 this year with the closest branches of the catalogue retailer now in Stewarton Sainsbury's and Irvine Sainsbury's.
