Business class passenger chucked off flight after kicking off at being put in economy

A business class passenger was chucked off a flight after an 'aggressive' request to cabin crew.

Daniele De Matos, 36, started causing trouble before the Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A320 had even left the ground in Sydney, Australia, before demanding staff don't look at her for nine hours.

Court documents say she became "verbally abusive" after initially being put in an economy seat by mistake, reports the Mirror.

But when she was shown to her correct seat in business class, De Matos continued the abuse after a staff member had "taken her alcoholic drink prematurely". When she asked a staff member not to look at her for the nine hours of the 8,180km (5,082m) flight, De Matos was asked to leave the plane.

Cabin crew had barely finished delivering the in-flight safety rules. The court documents, seen by MailOnline, read: "Shortly after the demonstration concluded, the accused ordered the cabin crew not to look at her for nine hours.

"As a result of these interactions, the cabin crew advised the captain of the accused's behaviour. The captain formed the view that the accused's erratic and disorderly behaviour presented a risk to the safety of the aircraft."

The decision was made to return the plane back down the taxiway and apron to the terminal to offload De Matos, a concierge for a software company.

When a cabin crew member "placed her hand on the accused's shoulder to calm her", De Matos acted "aggressively towards the crew member". Police were eventually called to help remove the woman, who delayed the plane by more than one hour.

De Matos was arrested and charged with one count of behaving in an offensive or disorderly manner affecting safety, to which she pleaded guilty on Monday. Magistrate Theo Tsavdaridis fined the defendant, from the US, $600 AUD (£337).
