Seven government departments, including the Ministry of Commerce, jointly issued a document outlining 20 specific measures to expand goods consumption during the 15th Five-Year Plan period from 2026 to 2030.

The document set a goal for total retail sales of consumer goods to reach about 60 trillion yuan ($9 trillion) in 2030.

It aims to cultivate markets worth trillions of yuan in green, smart and health consumption, while maintaining the country’s globally leading market scale in retail categories such as automobiles, home appliances and communication equipment.

China to cultivate AI application service providers

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology launched a special initiative to cultivate AI application service providers.

The action includes exploring ways to increase the procurement of large models, AI agents and tokens, aiming to improve the quality and efficiency of AI usage across industries.

It also encourages capable regions to establish comprehensive service systems to support high-quality AI application projects expanding overseas.
