A body discovered beside the Tuggeranong Parkway in Canberra's south is believed to be that of missing man Shane Watson.
Mr Watson, 33, was first reported as missing on April 18, when police said they held concerns for his welfare.
They said a search of his Bonython home had found it unsecured, and it was "clear from the state of the residence that he had left it without any planning".
On Friday, police say what they believe to be his body was discovered about 10.30am by a bushwalker by the Tuggeranong Parkway near the Cotter Road in Canberra's south.
A police spokesperson said they had not ruled out foul play.
They said it was evident the body had been there for some time.
ACT Policing Detective Superintendent Haul O'Meagher said the investigation into the circumstances of Mr Watson's death was ongoing.
"Examination of the scene is ongoing — it will include a physical search of the area, we're obviously trying to find items of relevance to the investigation," he said.
"At this point in time the cause of death is not known, our examination of the scene in combination with the post-mortem will hopefully identify and confirm a cause of death.
"We have our forensics officers at the scene but it's apparent from early observations that this deceased person has been at the location for some time.
"The investigation is ongoing both in relation to the circumstances of his disappearance and how it is that he came to die."
