A tragic incident occurred in St. Petersburg, Russia, when a bus veered off a bridge and plunged into the Moika River, resulting in the loss of seven lives. The city bus, carrying 15 passengers, broke through a barrier before falling into the river in central St. Petersburg. Six individuals managed to escape the water on their own, while the remaining passengers faced critical or serious injuries.
According to reports from the Investigative Committee, Russia's top criminal investigations body, the bus driver has been detained following the accident. The owner of the bus had a history of violations, having been fined 23 times for various infractions. It was revealed that private companies operate most of the bus services in the city.
