Joe Burns has been denied a century in his 100th Sheffield Shield game, as Nathan McAndrew bowled South Australia back into their clash with Queensland.
Eyeing his first Shield ton since February 2021, Burns was run out while attempting a quick single for 85 as Queensland were all out for 342 at tea on day three in reply to South Australia's 240.
In an action-packed middle session, the Bulls lost eight wickets to dent their hopes of building a big first-innings lead and setting up a difficult last day for the Redbacks.
McAndrew did the majority of the damage, claiming his first five-wicket haul of the summer to finish with 5-93.
After claiming Sam Truloff's scalp on Monday evening, he edged off Sam Heazlett and Jimmy Pearson after lunch on Tuesday cheaply.
He then got the key wicket of Max Bryant cutting at gully, with a ball that angled in at the right-hander's body and left him with little room.
The right-armer's five-wicket haul was then complete when Xavier Bartlett pulled him to deep square leg, just balls after the quick copped a nasty blow to the ankle.
James Bazley's 64no off 53 still ensured Queensland would take a 102-run lead, with the draw now the most likely result.
Burns would still, however, be disappointed.
Resuming after the lunch break on 85, he took off for a quick single after going back to a ball and pushing it onto the offside.
Jake Carder then swooped on the ball, picked it up with one hand and threw down the bowlers' end stumps in one motion to run the former Test opener out.
