Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has suggested that no decision will be made on Manchester United loanee Wout Weghorst's long-term future until the Clarets have secured their place back in the Premier League.
The Turf Moor outfit are on course to secure an immediate return to the top-flight after suffering relegation last season. They are currently at the top of the Championship table, boasting a 12-point lead over second-placed Sheffield United.
Kompany's side have been nothing short of sensational this season, winning 22 of their 34 league matches, losing just twice. They are unbeaten in each of their last 14 Championship outings, winning 12.

It means it would take an unprecedented collapse to stop them from securing promotion. Nevertheless, until they have rubber-stamped their position back in the Premier League for next season, Kompany has made it clear that no immediate decision will be made on the United striker, who has scored just one goal since arriving on loan last month.
"He is a Premier League player and we are a Championship club," Kompany said, as quoted by Lancs Live. "As long as that hasn't changed it is not something that I can discuss.
"Let us do what we need to do first, which is win more games and then I'm sure there will be a moment when the discussion becomes relevant but that is not the case yet."
Since joining United on a temporary basis last month, Weghorst has quickly become a key fixture in manager Erik ten Hag's plans, racking up 12 appearances. He started Sunday's Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle United at Wembley and earned the assist for Marcus Rashford's 25th goal of the season to double United's lead.
Though Kompany, taking his Manchester City connections into account, jokingly found it difficult to congratulate the Netherlands international, he was pleased to see him lift a major honour.
Kompany added: "Well done for him, of course, it's a great achievement. There's players who land in like almost a basket of trophies from the moment they're born but most of us have to really fight to get to ever lift a trophy.
"He's doing that at the moment and I can appreciate that this is an incredible moment. I hope he's going to enjoy it and make the most of it and... yes… it's a difficult one on a personal level. As many as he wins, the happier we are for him, but I can't quite say that, can I?"
