David and Victoria Beckham are reviewing security at their £40million west London mansion after it was broken into and “thousands of pounds” worth of items were stolen.
The masked raider struck while the Beckhams were at home in Kensington with their 10-year-old daughter Harper on Monday, February 28.
According to The Sun, the burglary was not discovered until youngest son, Cruz Beckham, 17, returned home from a night out and found a broken window and a spare bedroom which had been “ransacked”.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed officers responded to reports of a burglary at a residential address in the W11 area of Kensington around midnight on March 1.
They added that a number of items were reported stolen. No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are continuing.
According to the Sun, missing items included “thousands of pounds of designer and electric goods”.
Would-be model Cruz is said to have spotted a spare bedroom had been ransacked while his parents were in the house, with glass from the broken window lying on the floor.
He alerted David who rang 999 while he and Cruz searched the home. Victoria is thought to have remained with daughter Harper.
Former England captain and Manchester United legend David, 46, and former Spice Girl and now fashion designer Victoria, 47, are said to have been “shaken up” by the “invasion”.
The couple have suffered from stalkers and kidnap threats in the past. It is understood CCTV has been seized by police.
Two other properties were recently targeted in the exclusive enclave where Sir Elton John and Robbie Williams have homes.
Entry was forced to an empty neighbouring property of the Beckham’s home and an attempt made to access another.
Nothing is believed to have been stolen from the first address.
It comes as a woman awaits trial charged with stalking David since 2016.
She allegedly turned up at his Kensington address and Harper’s school.
The 58-year-old is due to stand trial at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in July but the case is unconnected to the burglary.
David and former Spice Girl Victoria - who have an estimated joint wealth of £760m - often post pictures of their London home on social media. They have two other children - footballer Romeo, 19, and Brooklyn, 23, who is marrying billionaire’s daughter Nicola Peltz on April 9 in the US.
Kensington Palace - Prince William and Kate’s London residence - is nearby.
A source told The Sun: “Sadly the Beckhams were the victims of some fairly professional thieves who have been operating in the area.
“Fortunately the criminals only made it as far as one bedroom before they ran off.”
Formula One heiress Tamara Ecclestone, 37, had £25million worth of jewellery and cash swiped in the highest-value residential burglary in English legal history.
Ms Ecclestone was on a trip to Lapland with businessman husband Jay Rutland, 41, and their daughter in December 2019.
Days earlier the gang - later sentenced to 28 years - broke into the Chelsea home of Frank and Christine Lampard, both 43, and stole valuable watches and jewellery.
Cash was taken from the Knightsbridge home of late Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, 60, which had been turned into a shrine by his family after he died in a helicopter crash in 2018.
A Met spokesman said: “Police were called at 0.37am on Tuesday, March 1 to reports of a burglary at a residential address in the W11 area of Kensington.
“The burglary is believed to have taken place between 8.30pm and 11.30pm on Monday, February 28.
“A number of items were reported stolen.
“No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.”
