Burgh boss McKim says his belief in the players will not change

Burgh manager Jamie McKim says a draw was a fair result on Saturday afternoon as the Johnstone side drew with Cumbernauld United

The Johnstone gaffer feels that after watching the game back and reflecting on the game as a whole, a point a piece was the result both teams deserved.

Cumbernauld United opened the scoring in the first half as the away side dominated the ball and made Burgh work for it with the Johnstone manager admitting that his side was the weaker side in the first half.

However, it was truly a game of two halves as after the restart the home side came out with a point to prove and to show that winning at Keanie Park wasn’t going to be an easy task.

McKim’s boys started very strongly as they got on the ball more and looked to make a positive impact in the second half, something that they didn’t get to do enough in the first.

The persistence paid off after a sensational strike from Phil Lee from around 25 yards out found the top corner, something Lee’s manager said was “worthy of winning a game alone”.

This spurred on the Burgh to try and get all three points, however, it ended with a goal-a-piece which saw both sides walk away with a point.

Speaking exclusively to Express Sport, McKim expressed his frustration at not taking advantage of the second-half momentum but agreed with the final result in the end.

He explained: "It was a game of two halves as Cumbernauld were on top in the first and we came into the second half, with us scoring and looking to push for the winner.

“In the end, after watching it back, I would agree with a draw as I think that is a fair result for both teams.

“When it comes to home games, we need to be winning them and it is key for us to get as many points as possible at home if we want to be at the right end of the table.

“It is a tough spell that we are going through right now but we will get through it. I believe in this squad as they are all good players. No matter what game I go into, my belief in the squad does not change.
