Burges Salmon appoints new private equity partner

Burges Salmon has appointed private equity specialist Andrew Mills as a partner in its corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) team.

He joins the law firm from MJ Hudson, where he was a partner and head of its M&A team.

Mills has previously focused on advice concerning private equity, infrastructure and general corporate transactions, including competitive auction sales, GP-led portfolio sales, co-investments, joint ventures and equity fundraising.

He is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, having trained at Hogan Lovells and then worked in Clifford Chance’s private equity group for six years, including six months in its Frankfurt office in 2012.

Mills is a fluent German speaker and will be involved in strengthening the firm’s International offering with its preferred firm network in Germany.

“The highly-regarded reputation in the market of Burges Salmon’s corporate group precedes itself,“ said Mills. “I’m very pleased to be joining the firm to reinforce its ongoing strategy of ambitious growth and am looking forward to working with colleagues across the firm to support its national and international client-base across a range of complex transactional matters.”

Nick Graves, head of Burges Salmon’s corporate group, concluded: “This latest appointment marks a really pleasing period of positive growth for our corporate group and demonstrates continued progress and ongoing investment, particularly following the appointment of energy transition partner Malcolm Donald in November last year and the recent announcement of Alex Lloyd as a new corporate and M&A partner from 1 May this year.”
