A burger fan who loves a good bargain has discovered a McDonald's hack that lets him enjoy a 'Big Mac' with nearly £2 off its original cost of £4.09. Ashley Osbourne demonstrated how he got a Big Mac for just £2.38, by using a little creativity and thinking outside the (Big Mac) box.
Money saving methods have always been popular, perhaps even moreso during this current economic climate that has seen people cutting back to reduce outgoings. Ashley shared his money saving hack on TikTok where the video has garnered thousands of likes.
The Big Mac burger is made up of three buns, two beef patties plus the usual tasty extras of cheese, onion and burger sauce. Instead of forking out £4.09 for this burger, Ashley recreated his own Big Mac, using items from the McDonald's menu, reports MyLondon.
By putting together components of the Big Mac himself, Ashley has saved £1.71, in a cost-cutting hack that you too can try in just a few simple clicks. In the video, Ashley demonstrated how easy it is, to buy two cheeseburgers from the saver menu for £1.19 each and then add some Sandwich Sauce to replicate the classic Big Mac flavour.
Ashley's video tip which has nearly 1,000 likes, was a hit with some money savvy diners, however some with more finely tuned palates were not having any of the hack. One person wrote: "Cheeseburgers are tiny so nothing like the Big Mac."
Another added: "Sandwich sauce is not the same as the iconic Big Mac sauce, one of the main reasons people go for the Big Mac anyway." A third said: "Smaller patties and smaller buns so not quite the same but still decent."
"It becomes a double cheeseburger, not a Big Mac", a fourth wrote. Other customers had their own handy hints which could mean the Big Mac is even cheaper.
One said: "Just use the code to get it for £1.99 with medium chips." Another said: "Or just do the McFood online and you get the Big Mac and chips for £1.99."
