Burger chain Honest Burgers has launched what it’s calling its ‘best ever value burger in restaurants nationwide today. Called the Smashed by Honest, it has been devised ‘as a response to the cost of living increases’, the chain has said.
It will come in at a cost of £8.50, including a portion of the chain’s rosemary salt fries, and in Manchester will be available from its outlet on Bridge Street. As the name suggests, it’s a ‘smashed’ style burger, so made with chopped beef and squashed on the grill.
Made with Britsh beef, it’s cooked super quick in two minutes, is lower in calories and ‘ideal as a lunch option’. It comes topped with brown butter mustard mayo, American cheese, white onions and pickles.
It can also be customised, with bacon for an extra £1.50, and extra beef patty for £2.50 or both for an extra £4.

Tom Barton, the co-founder of Honest Burgers, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be launching SMASHED by Honest to our customers. We know that lots of people are looking for more affordable options right now, whilst still wanting to eat top quality food.
“This brand-new burger is our best value to date and the way our chefs smash and cook the patties on the grill means we’ve created a lighter, even juicer burger that’s ready in minutes. We can’t wait for people to tuck in and have a taste.”
The burger comes in cheaper than a similar meal at Five Guys, where its cheeseburger costs £8.25, or £8.95 with cheese and bacon, with fries coming in at an additional £2.95 for a small portion and £5.25 for large.
Both are considerably more expensive than McDonald’s, where a Quarter Pounder with cheese costs £5.29 for a medium sized value meal, including fries and a drink. Honest Burgers started out with a single restaurant in Brixton Market, South London, in 2011.
It now has more than 40 outlets nationwide, and also runs its open butchery, which makes its beef patties, and its own central ‘Honest Kitchen’, where its sauces, pickles, drinks and fries are all made from scratch.
