Burger chain apologizes for massive anniversary deal flop, promises redo

  • Five Guys is relaunching its buy one, get one (BOGO) burger promotion after an unsuccessful initial attempt last month.
  • The original promotion, celebrating the chain's 40th birthday on February 17, failed due to overwhelming customer demand that Five Guys could not meet.
  • The company announced a "40th After Party" promotion, running from March 9 to March 12, as a "do-over" to make amends.
  • Customers can redeem the BOGO deal online or through the Five Guys app using the code FGAFTERPARTY, valid at participating locations in the US and Canada.
  • Five Guys is also distributing $1.5 million in bonuses to its store employees to acknowledge their efforts during the initial, overwhelming promotion.
