The Bulls waived Jaden Ivey for "conduct detrimental to the team," the organization announced on Monday evening, hours after the 24-year-old guard took aim at the NBA's Pride Night in a lengthy video posted to social media.

In recent weeks, Ivey has taken to Instagram Reels to extensively preach his beliefs, sparking concern among his followers and fans online. He has previously disclosed a history of depression.
Then, in a video shared on Monday afternoon, Ivey called out the NBA's celebration of Pride Month, which he likened to a celebration of "unrighteousness."
“The world can proclaim LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month in the NBA," Ivey said in the video. "They show it to the world. They say, ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.'"
Chicago acquired Ivey as part of a three-team deal with Minnesota and Detroit back in February. Prior to that, Ivey had been with the Pistons, who drafted him with the No. 5 pick in 2022.
On Thursday, the Bulls announced that Ivey, who had been sidelined since Feb. 11 with a knee injury, would miss the remainder of the season.
Ivey continued to stream as he boarded a flight on Monday, during which he reacted to the Bulls' decision to cut him, among other things. In one clip, he discussed Stephen Curry's religious views as announcements in the background urged passengers to put their phones in airplane mode.
Earlier that evening, ahead of the Bulls' game against the Spurs, Chicago head coach Billy Donovan explained the team's decision to release Ivey and said that he had not been monitoring the guard's social media posts.
"We're all gonna basically take care of each other," Donovan said. "We're gonna accept each other. We're gonna be hardworking. We're gonna be accountable, we're gonna be respectful and we're gonna be professional. I think that's kind of what it's been. I know some of the things that were put out there. I think it's a situation for him where it's on his own personal Instagram. I don't wanna get into what he put out there, but certainly I hope for him, he's okay."
