Despite the apparent need for one, the Chicago Bulls aren’t interested in rebuilding their roster. At least, that’s what Arturas Karnisovas has stated. There have been some cracks in that plan in the form of Zach LaVine trade rumors, but all in all, the Bulls seemingly want to run it back.
If that is the team’s plan, they need to address some big-time roster needs. While they could use extra forwards and more three-point shooting on the roster, the biggest need on the Bulls roster sits at the point guard position, as they don’t necessarily have a starting-caliber one on the roster.
According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, Chicago could have a plethora of point guard targets this summer, but TJ McConnell and Delon Wright seem like two of the most realistic options.
“Fred VanVleet is a pipe dream, and Chris Paul probably is, too,” Buckley wrote. “But maybe Chicago could lure Tyus Jones away from the Memphis Grizzlies. If not, someone like TJ McConnell or Delon Wright could be on the radar as defense-first lead guards who can move the basketball.”
While it would be nice to add a star like Fred VanVleet or Chris Paul, both of those options could be out of Chicago’s price range. The same can probably be said about Tyus Jones, who the Memphis Grizzlies will need even more next year due to the Ja Morant suspension.
However, either one of McConnell or Wright would be a solid veteran option to lead the Bulls’ first unit next season.
