Chicago Bulls guard Jevon Carter will wear No. 5 this season, the team announced on social media. Carter also donned No. 5 during his two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. The number was last worn by a Bull in 2023 by Derrick Jones Jr.
Carter’s arrival in Chicago is an important one. By some assessments, it was one of the shrewdest moves made this offseason across the NBA. Carter signed a three year, $19.5 million contract with the Bulls, giving the team a player with plenty of upside to fill out the club’s guard rotation. Carter averaged 8 points and 2.4 assists in Milwaukee last season while logging 39 starts. He also shot 42.3% from the floor and 42.1% from deep.
Expect Carter to fill a similar role for the Bulls this season. Behind Alex Caruso and Zach LaVine, Carter is a logical choice to serve as primary ballhandler when needed. That No. 5 jersey could see even more action should any injuries or trades pop up.
