Right now, the Chicago Bulls don’t have a pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Their first-rounder belongs to the Orlando Magic by way of the Nikola Vucevic trade, and the NBA stripped their second-round selection after it was determined that Chicago broke tampering rules when signing Lonzo Ball.
However, with how average the current roster is, investing in young talent should be a top priority for the Bulls. The 2023 NBA Draft is loaded with talent, and if they could find a way to make it work, trading into the event would be a huge win for Chicago. Whether it be a lottery pick, a late first, or even a second, adding a rookie to the squad would help Chicago’s future.

Gradey Dick is projected to be a lottery pick, so Chicago would have to make a big swing in order to land him. However, if they managed to add him to the roster, he would immediately alleviate some of their shooting woes. Even if they had to trade one of their stars in a package that included a lottery pick, it could be worth considering.

At 6-foot-8, Jett Howard would not only help solve the Bulls’ shooting problem, but he would give them some additional forward depth, too, which would be much-needed. Howard is projected to go late in the lottery or just outside of it, so the Bulls would have to pull off a fairly big trade in order to land him.

Perhaps the most realistic target, Terquavion Smith isn’t projected to be selected until the middle of the second round, meaning Chicago wouldn’t have to make a blockbuster deal in order to trade up and select him.
He’s a smaller guard, but his catch-and-shoot three-point game is elite, and for a team that could use some point guard depth, targeting Smith could be a solid, realistic idea for Chicago.
