Bullitt Hotel in Belfast announces reopening date after fire

A popular city centre hotel has revealed its reopening date after an 'accidental fire' forced it to close in March. Bullitt Hotel on Ann Street will reopen to guests on August 4 after a four-month closure.

On March 29, a blaze broke out at the Babel rooftop bar complex of the hotel slightly before 5pm. Some 60 firefighters brought the fire under control by 10.15pm that evening.

Taking to social media, the hotel has shared the reopening news.

They said: "Good news! Bullitt will be back on Thursday 4th August for city stays, amazing food and delicious drinks. So head over to bullitthotel.com now to book your room before they all get snapped up!

"More exciting re-opening details to come soon – watch this space!"

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) confirmed it sent eight appliances and an aerial ladder platform to the scene and that no-one was hurt in the incident, with all guests and staff evacuated safely. The fire was contained to backroom areas.

In a statement issued after the fire, Team Babel said: "The team at Babel would like to extend their thanks to the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service who worked tirelessly throughout the afternoon and evening to ensure the fire was under control at the hotel. We would also like to thank our dedicated and hardworking team who assisted in safe evacuation of all staff and guests and also assisted in re-accommodating those affected.

"We are currently assessing the damage and can confirm that the hotel will be temporarily closed until the end of this week as we await further details. Our reservations team are in the process of contacting all our guests who will be affected by this announcement.

"We can only apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and we thank you for your understanding and patience at this time."

Further updates on social media confirmed the hotel remained closed but will now reopen in August.
