Bullets hit Englewood homes, seriously injure 10-year-old girl and narrowly miss 14-year-old neighbor

A bullet hole can be seen in the back window of a house in the 6400 block of South Racine Avenue on Friday, a day after a 10-year-old girl was shot in the thigh while standing inside her bedroom in the Englewood neighborhood home. (Ashlee Rezin/Sun-Times)

A 10-year-old girl was shot and seriously wounded in her home late Thursday night in the Englewood neighborhood.

Her next-door neighbor was up watching TV when bullets also came through her house. She heard the shots and glass shatter. She dropped to the floor and called for her 14-year-old daughter to do the same.
