Bukayo Saka told to complete Liverpool transfer as Mikel Arteta faces Arsenal contract dilemma

Bukayo Saka has been named the 'perfect' fit for Jurgen Klopp's side, with Liverpool encouraged to plot a move for the Arsenal winger. The 20-year-old has been thinly linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium as his contract saga continues to cast doubt over his future in north London.

The Hale End graduate featured 38 times for Mikel Arteta's side in the Premier League last season, directly contributing towards 18 goals. Saka's impressive displays steered Arsenal within touching distance of Champions League qualification though, despite missing out to rivals Tottenham Hotspur, he's courted interest from several top-flight clubs in Europe.

And, with his contract at the club set to expire in 2024, the Gunners are under growing pressure to include a release clause in a new deal, with talks over a new contract said to be commencing soon. Saka, who is valued at around £100million by CIES Football Observatory, has been central to much of Arsenal's success lately, spearheading the club into a new era.

But, despite his fortunes in north London, former Premier League defender Glen Johnson has endorsed a move that sees Saka pen a deal at Anfield. Speaking to The Games Cabin, Johnson said: "I’d like to see Bukayo Saka go to Liverpool. He’d suit Liverpool perfectly.

"But he’s playing well for Arsenal, and he clearly enjoys being there. He’s obviously a good lad, and you can see that from the way he interacts with other players.

"He’s still super young so maybe a few more years at Arsenal would work too. As long as he continues to stamp his authority there, then the big teams are still going to want to sign him."

While some reports have cast doubt over Saka's future at his boyhood club, in May the MailOnline said that the winger is in fact happy at Arsenal. But, the MailOnline did claim that the England international 'may be reluctant to commit himself without an exit strategy' following failure to qualify for the Champions League.
