Bukayo Saka's "dream" scenario drops clue over Arsenal future after contract breakthrough

Buyako Saka has hinted he will commit his future to Arsenal after opening up on his dream of playing Champions League football next season with the Gunners.

The north Londoners are keen to tie down the England rising star to a long-term deal as he attracts interest from Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp's men have been loosely linked with the winger as he continued his impressive season at Vicarage Road on Sunday with a goal and assist in Arsenal's 3-2 win over Watford.

Saka has previously put contract talks on hold so that he can focus on finishing the season as strongly as possible, which has meant rumours of a switch to Anfield have gone into overdrive.

But the latest reports suggest Saka will meet with Arsenal in the summer to discuss a new deal.

Saka also suggested that he is now going nowhere in the foreseeable future as he sees himself being firmly part of the Arsenal picture next term with his main focus on delivering Champions League football.

He told Sky Sports: "Of course, of course," when asked if he was excited over the Gunners' top-four chances.

"This is our dream for next year to be in the top four and playing Champions League football. You have to stay humble and focused for now, and think about it at the end of the season."

Saka has carried on from where he left off last season despite a brutal finish to his Euro 2020 campaign with England as he missed a vital spot-kick as Italy won the competition on penalties.

And Arteta reckons that experience has helped him reach even greater heights this year.

"I think Bukayo had an experience in the summer that not a lot of players would ever have and I think it was great for his career because the football world showed how much they like him and how much they respect him," the Spaniard explained.

"I think that was a big boost for him to realise in difficult moments that people are going to give him support, and the club did exactly the same as his teammates."

Arteta went on to suggest that Saka still has plenty of room to grow and is on an upward trajectory.

"It's about leaving him that space," the Spaniard said after Sunday's match of the youngster's development.

"What he is already doing is phenomenal and he needs that room, you know? Don't read too much, do what you do.

"Football is his priority in life and you can see that every day in training and he needs to continue to behave and live the way that he is doing."
