Bukayo Saka has insisted he will do everything he can to make amends after his missed penalty in Arsenal's Premier League with West Ham. The 21-year-old was handed a golden chance to put the Gunners back in control at London Stadium with the game finely poised at 2-1, but the Arsenal attacker shockingly sent his penalty wide off the target.
In the first half, goals from Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard had put the league leaders in total control with the Gunners dominating the ball. However, a number of mistakes at the back, starting with Thomas Partey gifting possession to Declan Rice, allowed the Hammers back into the game with Gabriel Magalhaes bringing down Lucas Paqueta in the penalty area.
Said Benrahma stepped up and comfortably dispatched his spot kick to drag his side back into the game. Early in the second half, Saka had a chance to score from 12 yards but he fired his effort wide of the target at a crucial time in the game.

That fact was proven no less than 120 seconds later as Jarrod Bowen levelled the game. Despite 30 minutes remaining, neither team scored a winning goal, which for Arsenal meant another two points dropped in the title race.
Likely feeling his role in the game could have cost the Gunners, Saka responded to his penalty miss with a determined message on Instagram. He wrote: "Regardless of the outcome, I’ll always accept my responsibility. Apologies Gunners, I’ll do everything I can to make it right."
On Saturday, Manchester City closed the gap at the top to three points and with Arsenal drawing again, the initiative is firmly in the hands of Pep Guardiola and his players.
The potentially decisive title clash between the two teams at the Etihad Stadium arrives on Wednesday April 26 but before that Arteta and his players must focus on the upcoming clash at Emirates Stadium against bottom side Southampton.
