The 49ers already took care of business in Week 3 when they trounced the Giants 30-12 at Levi’s Stadium on Thursday night. Now they get to sit back and watch the rest of the week unfold.
San Francisco is in a very good spot at 3-0 with mostly convincing wins over three teams they certainly should’ve beat. It’s still too early to full-blown scoreboard watch, but we can definitely find a handful of games where the 49ers will have a rooting interest while they kick their feet up and watch action around the league Sunday and Monday.
Buy 49ers TicketsFor 49ers fans, here’s a quick guide to the teams they should be pulling for to help San Francisco’s place in the NFC hierarchy heading into Week 4:
Falcons (2-0) at Lions (1-1)
It’s pretty simple. The 49ers should for the most part be rooting for the 2-0 teams to lose.
49ers preferred result: Lions win
Saints (2-0) at Packers (1-1)
Not that many 49ers fans are probably super psyched about rooting for the Packers, but another 2-0 team losing would only push the 49ers closer to sole possession of the No. 1 seed.
49ers preferred result: Packers win
Bills (1-1) at Commanders (2-0)
It’s been an impressive start for the Commanders and they’re unlikely to remain a threat atop the NFC, but the sooner they get knocked down the better.
49ers preferred result: Bills win
Panthers (0-2) at Seahawks (1-1)
Does Andy Dalton have any magic left in him? A Seahawks loss would help the 49ers out a lot in the NFC West.
49ers preferred result: Panthers win
Cowboys (2-0) at Cardinals (0-2)
Speaking of magic … do the Cardinals have anything stronger? This one is a little counterintuitive because an NFC West loss is usually preferred, but Arizona isn’t a threat for San Francisco. The Cowboys are. A Dallas loss would be one of the single best results for the 49ers on Sunday.
49ers preferred result: Cardinals win
Eagles (2-0) at Buccaneers (2-0)
The only thing better than a Dallas loss for the 49ers would be an Eagles loss. Philadelphia is the reigning NFC champ and the top contender for the No. 1 seed. A loss in Week 3 would put San Francisco in a good spot.
49ers preferred result: Buccaneers win
Rams (1-1) at Bengals (0-2)
Almost all NFC West losses are good for San Francisco.
49ers preferred result: Bengals win
