The law firm representing Buckingham Palace responded to Prince Harry's bombshell interviews by issuing a demand that the TV channels ultimately turned down.
The Duke of Sussex, 38, has given a series of tell-all interviews ahead of the release of his memoir Spare, including to ITV's Tom Bradby in the UK, in which he made a series of explosive claims about life in the Royal Family. And as his interview with Good Morning America aired on Monday, the programme confirmed that Buckingham Palace had been in touch with an urgent request to the network, The Mirror reports.
ABC presenter Michael Strahan, who interviewed Prince Harry, explained: "We received a response from the law firm representing Buckingham Palace this morning while we were on the air, saying that the Palace needed to 'consider exactly what is said in the interview in the context in which it appears', and asked that we supply them immediately with a copy of the entire interview, which we do not do as a news organisation as a matter of our policy."

The Palace also issued a similar demand to another American network ahead of a separate interview with Prince Harry, according to journalist Anderson Cooper who sat down for a televised chat with the Duke of Sussex for CBS show 60 Minutes. Confirming that CBS had reached out to the Palace for comment, Anderson said: "Its representatives demanded that before considering responding, 60 Minutes provide them with our report prior to airing it tonight."
But the interviewer added that this 'demand' was not one that the programme agreed to, explaining: "It's something we never do." Harry made a string of shocking comments about senior members of the Royal Family in the interviews that have sparked a huge reaction from viewers.
During his interview with Good Morning America, Harry claimed that his late grandmother the Queen "wasn't angry" with him over his decision to quit his role as a working member of the Royal Family. "It was never a surprise to her, she knew what was going on, she knew how hard it was," he said.
Meanwhile, the Duke told Anderson Cooper on CBS' 60 Minutes that he spent many years believing that his mum Princess Diana would "reappear" following her death. Claiming that his brother Prince William held similar thoughts, Harry admitted he would wake up every morning wondering "maybe this is the day that she's gonna reappear".
In his ITV interview with Tom Bradby, Harry accused William and Kate of not getting alone with his wife Meghan "from the get-go", despite the couple being huge fans of the series Suits which she starred in. Harry said: "I don’t think they were ever expecting me to get into a relationship with someone like Meghan, who had, you know, a very successful career. There was a lot of stereotyping that was happening."
