Buckingham Palace launches £39 bottle of royal bubbly to mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Here’s one way to put a bit of sparkle into your celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee…

Buckingham Palace has launched a £39 special edition English bottle of bubbly to mark her 70 years on the throne.

The fizz is a blend of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier from vineyards in Kent and West Sussex.

It is being sold by the Royal Collection Trust, which said the drink can be enjoyed as an aperitif and goes well with the flavour of mature English cheddar.

The RCT added: “It also complements British seafood, such as crab, langoustines or classic fish and chips, making the wine a perfect addition to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this summer.”

With a 12% alcohol content, the tipple is said to have “enticing aromas of rich and honeyed citrus fruit, white peach and hints of sweet spices”.

Matching hand-cut champagne glasses are also on sale at a cost of £120 a pair.

All profits from sales will go to The RCT charity, which oversees the conservation of the Royal Collection.

On February 6, the Queen became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

Now fans can toast her with their very own royal bubbly.
