Buchanan Bus Station in Glasgow evacuated due to 'suspicious package'

A bus station in Glasgow has reopened after being evacuated earlier today due to a report of a suspicious package.

Police raced to Buchanan Bus Station on Killermont Street in the city centre at 12.15pm today.

Officers attended and cleared passengers from the area.

A cordon was erected around the station.

Buchanan Bus station has been closed off to members of the public (PA)

Nearby Killermont Street, North Hanover Street and Cowcaddens Road were also closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

Police Scotland has advised that all roads and Buchanan Bus Station has since reopened.

Officers have reassured that there is no threat to the wider public.

A statement reads: "Buchanan Bus Station, Killermont Street, North Hanover Street and Cowcaddens Road, Glasgow have now reopened following an earlier report of a suspicious package.

"There was no threat to the public."
