Buccaneers receiver Trey Palmer woke up angry, which could be bad news for the Lions

Some folks are just not morning people. It takes them longer to greet the day, and when they do, it can be a pretty grumpy experience.

While Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Trey Palmer seems to be one of those people, there’s a bit of a mixed message here. When the sixth-round rookie from LSU by way of Nebraska wakes up pissed off, it’s usually a good thing for Palmer and his team. And yes, Palmer apparently woke up that way on Sunday morning, just in time for the Bucs’ divisional-round playoff game against the Detroit Lions.

Why, you may ask, is this important? Because when Palmer wakes up that way, he scores touchdowns. Like, a lot of them.

Palmer was suitably pissed off on September 10 to catch a seven-yard touchdown in his regular-season debut against the Minnesota Vikings.

The next personification of Palmer’s morning mood came on October 1. Then, he caught this one-yard touchdown pass against the New Orleans Saints.

As Palmer went through his first NFL regular season, he became more of a vertical threat, but that didn’t make him any happier as the sun came up. So, we had this 22-yard slot post touchdown against the Saints in Week 17…

…and this 56-yard hammer against the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round. Palmer looked especially pissed off on this one.

Now, when the Bucs and Lions faced off in Week 6, Palmer had a real shot at another deep touchdown — he had beaten safety Kerby Joseph on an even deeper slot post than the one he had against the Saints — but Baker Mayfield overthrew it.

The Bucs lost 20-6, and if there’s a similar result this time, Palmer’s anger may be more than a social media construct. Anyway, watch out, Lions. Trey Palmer is back, and he’s in his usual bad mood.
