BTS will be fulfilling their mandatory military service in South Korea starting with their oldest member Jin.
The K-Pop boy band's agency, HYBE, confirmed the news on Monday.
"Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October," they said.
"He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government. Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans.
"Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment."
Able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to perform between 18 and 21 months of military service in South Korea.
People who are exempt from the mandatory service include athletes, classical and traditional musicians and dancers who have won top prizes in competitions which raise the reputation of the country.
A few years ago, the country's parliament passed a bill which meant K-pop stars would be able to delay the age for the service to 30 years old.
Jin, their oldest member, is currently 29 and will be the first one to fulfil the service.
It comes after Lee Ki Sik, the commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration, told lawmakers it would be 'desirable' for BTS to complete their military service to keep it fair.
Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup made similar comments at a parliamentary committee meeting.
BTS band members include Jin, Suga, 29, J-Hope, 28, RM, 28, Jimin, 26, V, 26, and Jungkook, 25.
In June, they announced their plans to go on a 'temporary' hiatus' to pursue individual projects.
They broke the news during their annual FESTA dinner that premiered on YouTube.

RM said: "I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature. You have to keep producing music and keep doing something."
Jimin added: "We can’t help but think of our fans no matter what, we want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans.
"I think now we’re starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered by our fans.
"I think that’s why we’re going through a rough patch right now, we’re trying to find our identity and that’s an exhausting and long process."
Throughout the dinner - held to celebrate their 9th anniversary as a band - the seven singers all reminisced on their impressive career and their time together as a band.
Implying the break is a hiatus, not a coded break up, Jungkook stated: "I promise we will return some day, more mature than now. Till then, we ask for your blessing."
