BT Sport presenter Darrell Currie has revealed that he is suffering from a chronic pain condition, meaning he is currently unable to present live television.
The popular broadcaster has been a mainstay of BT's football coverage in recent seasons in both a Scottish and Premier League-based capacity.
Currie has still been presenting Scottish Football Extra in recent weeks alongside Chris Sutton and Ally McCoist, where the trio comically look back upon the week's action in Scotland.
Updating on his current situation, Currie thanked well-wishers for their support as he continues to battle back to full fitness.
He tweeted: "Happy New Year to you all. I'm sorry I've not been with you on Live TV recently.
"I have been dealing with a chronic pain condition which has brought challenges to my life as I feel constantly dizzy, imbalanced and find walking difficult at times.
"I'm working very hard with doctors to find the root cause of this problem, but it has been an extremely tough time for me and my family. I am fighting with all my strength to try to find a way to recover.
"I want to express my gratitude for all the support I've had in recent months and all the kind messages I've been sent have been warmly received.
"The support from people I work for and with has been incredible. I am truly thankful. I hope to return to Live TV at some point in 2023. My family provides daily motivation and encouragement. They constantly remind me that giving up is not an option."
Celtic hero John Hartson was one of the first to respond and wish Currie a speedy recovery.
He said: "Sorry to hear this Darrell. Hope your feeling stronger soon. Sending you my thoughts and best wishes. You’ll win this mate."
Chris Sutton also responded, tweeting: "Stay strong Darrell. You’re brilliant a brilliant broadcaster. We all miss working with you as we used to and want you back. Keep fighting."
Dundee United striker Tony Watt also sent a well wish adding: "Sorry to hear Darrell, it’s not the same without you. Health first."
Currie has also presented on Premier Sports as part of their coverage of Scotland fixtures and domestic cup matches in Scotland.
