Kristi Noem’s husband, Bryon, has broken his silence on his divorce from the former Homeland Security secretary after he was accused of engaging in a fetish known as “bimbofication.”
Bryon Noem, 56, “is saddened that the marriage is ending and hopes for a private and amicable resolution,” his attorney Tim Bottum told the Daily Mail.
Earlier this week, Kristi Noem, 54, officially filed for divorce in their home state of South Dakota, months after the Mail published photos of her husband in a skin-colored top with two balloons tucked into it to look like huge breasts.
“It's called bimbofication. People who modify their body to look like a doll. The Barbie look,” one of the adult entertainers who allegedly communicated with Bryon Noem online told the Mail in late March.
Bryon welcomes the chance to tell his side of the story in court, but also hopes to protect his family.
“If court proceedings become necessary, Bryon will welcome the opportunity to truthfully share his perspective,” Bottum said in a statement shared Wednesday. “Bryon’s priority is to protect the family and move forward as loving parents and grandparents.”
Kristi Noem’s divorce filing cited irreconcilable differences after 34 years of marriage. The couple met in high school and tied the knot in 1992. They have three adult children and four grandchildren.
Kristi Noem’s mother, Corinne Arnold, 77, told the Mail in July that her daughter started divorce proceedings.
“It has been difficult, but we knew this was coming, that they were going to get divorced,” Arnold said.
Weeks after Bryon’s scandal broke, he, Kristi Noem and the rest of the family got together to celebrate one of their grandchildren’s birthdays in South Dakota.
“Bryon was holding and hugging the kids,” she said. “It seemed like the old Bryon.”
Kristi Noem, who was heavily criticized for her handling of President Donald Trump’s massive immigration crackdown as Homeland Security secretary, has also been facing her own personal scandal.
Rumors have swirled around Washington of an alleged affair between her and her close aide Corey Lewandowski, who is also married. Both have vehemently denied the affair, with Kristi Noem describing the rumors as “tabloid garbage” at a House committee hearing in early March.
Kristi Noem now serves as the special envoy for the “Shield of the Americas,” a security initiative the Trump administration created to stop drug trafficking and illegal immigration in the Western Hemisphere.
Trump announced the shakeup in early March, tapping Senator Markwayne Mullin, an Oklahoma Republican, to become Homeland Security secretary.
