Comparing Bryce Young and Kyler Murray to one another is super easy and maybe eve a bit reductive.
Young isn’t necessarily the runner that Kyler Murray. Their respective arm talents are also both a little bit different. But when it comes down to NFL combine measurements? Yeah, the comparisons kind of stick.
Young finally had his measurements taken at the combine on Saturday morning and they came out nearly identical to the measurements Kyler Murray had in 2019. ESPN’s Field Yates posted both of their measurements and they were nearly the exact same.
Now, obviously, we’ve seen both of them play football and we know the difference between the two of them. But, man. Come on. This is uncanny.
Kyler Murray’s measurements at the 2019 Combine:
Height: 5-10 and 1/8th of an inch
Weight: 207 pounds
Hands: 9 and 1/2 of an inchBryce Young is virtually identical today. https://t.co/8zuCrYP5Gw

Young’s hands are slightly bigger. Murray weighs in at just a smidge more. They’re the exact same height.
This isn’t necessarily the greatest thing for Young’s draft stock. NFL executives and draft gurus were already worried about his stature, just as they were worried about Murray’s heading into the draft.
But, as Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling points out, he’s still too great at everything else to simply drop because of this.

We’ve seen shorter quarterbacks work out. Drew Brees, Kyler Murray, Russell Wilson and now, even Jalen Hurts. It’s all about playing to their strengths, which is exactly what a team that drafts him should do.
We’ll see how it goes. But now, at least, whatever team takes him knows exactly what they’re working with.
