It has been a tale of two vastly different seasons for the first two picks of the 2023 NFL draft. With both Bryce Young and CJ Stroud being highly touted as future franchise quarterbacks it has been interesting to see the season thus far play out for each of them. Young, being the first overall pick, faces pressure to start playing above the talent around him, while Stroud expects to continue his historic streak for the position.
This Sunday we will get a first-hand look at each quarterback as they are set to face off in Carolina this Sunday. The Texans are considered favorites for this bout, in large part due to the unreal level of play that Stroud has brought to the table. Young and the Panthers are still looking for their first win of the season, and it could help put an exclamation point early on if Young was able to go out there and help beat his natural draft rival.
Carolina has struggled to provide Young with any help asides from an aged-up Adam Thielen, and they walk out with one of the worst offensive lines in the league going into Sunday. Houston has managed to make proper investments in the likes of Tank Dell and Nico Collins that have both had major breakout seasons under Stroud, who boasts a much more talented and healthy offensive line when the two face off.
Will Bryce Young start to turn the Panthers’ season around with a big win and cement his status as the top pick in the draft? Or will CJ Stroud make Carolina regret passing him up at the number one overall spot. A lot of questions will be answered this weekend in what should be one of the more exciting games on the schedule.
