The 25th anniversary of the Supercars Darwin Triple Crown marks a special occasion for the city and local talent Bryce Fullwood.
Brad Jones Racing's Fullwood is part of an entire grid sporting Indigenous livery for the weekend's action, brought about by work with Indigenous artists and organisations across Australia to support the special round's initiatives.
A proud Territorian, Fulwood says his home circuit is the perfect place to celebrate and showcase Gen 3 Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaro's in vibrant colours.
"It's really cool. For us Territorians, we're really brought up around the Indigenous culture and it's really fitting to have the Indigenous round here at Hidden Valley in the Territory," he said.
Fullwood sits 14th on the championship standings with his best finish seventh in Melbourne earlier this year.
But a 10th overall last round in Tasmania has the 25-year-old looking for further improvement, and he's pulling out all the stops at home to ensure that's the case.
"It doesn't actually feel like a race meeting because I go home and stay in my own bed, chat with mum and dad - it feels a little bit weird," he said.
"We're used to staying in hotels when we go racing. So to make it feel a little bit more like a race meeting, on Friday and Saturday night I'm going to stay at the hotel just to make it feel like a race meeting."
A sense of feel and understanding of the new Gen 3 cars is still a work in progress for Fullwood and the majority of the grid, he added.
But there are two drivers and one team who have nailed their set ups as Supercars enters it's fifth round of the year: Erebus Motorsport's Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown.
Kostecki has the most pole positions of any driver this year (3) in an extremely tight field, leading three other drivers including his teammate on two.
Those have transferred to two race wins, one shy of Brown and Red Bull Ampol's Shane van Gisbergen and Broc Feeney.
Kostecki leads Brown by 87 points atop the championship standings with Ford's Chaz Mostert third and the two Red Bull drivers rounding out the top five.
The last six races in Darwin have been won by a Mustang with Shell V-Power earning honours in five.
Two practice sessions kick start the action on Friday before qualifying and race 13 of the season on Saturday.
Drivers will duel in back-to-back qualifying sessions on Sunday before races 14 and 15 in the afternoon.
