As with every deadline day, there are always twists and turns and this summer window looks to be no different. The transfer window in England slams shut at 11pm on Thursday and there are still potential deals that could be completed in N17.
Tottenham have already signed seven players this summer, with most of their business being completed at the beginning of the window. Since then, there have been various players linked with moves, ahead of the deadline.
Antonio Conte has already said that any other players that now leave, need to be replaced. Therefore when it looked as though Bryan Gil was going to secure a loan move, names of those who could replace him started floating around.

The likes of James Maddison, Hakim Ziyech and Dan James have all been linked with a move to Spurs, with the latter two seeming to gather the most interest in the last few days. Conte seems pretty content with the club's transfer window so far, which was suggested through his comments during his press conference on Monday.
"I spoke with the club. I spoke with [Fabio] Paratici, with Daniel Levy, I said to them my opinion," he said. "But as you know very well, the most important thing is for the club to know my opinion. If we do something or not, it’s ok."
Gil ideally needed a loan move this summer to help him develop as a player, which he needed to do with regular game time. The Spaniard would've benefitted from making the temporary move to a Premier League side, to help him adapt to the English league.
However, most of his interest came from abroad. Gil spent the second half of last season on loan with Valencia and that looked to be where he would spend the rest of the 2022/23 campaign.
"We have closed a deal for Bryan, Tottenham have told us that it is 99% done. We have been waiting for him for two or three days," the Spanish side's boss Gennaro Gattuso explained.
"Tottenham have told us that they have to sign a replacement so that he can travel. We are waiting for Tottenham to sign another player."
But the latest reports are now suggesting that a move for Gil is off and the Spaniard will remain at Spurs. It is likely that most fans will agree the youngster needed a move, however it can be spun positively.
With the amount of games Tottenham have to play this season, there is going to be a need for rotation and this is likely to mean Gil will get more game time then he perhaps would have last season. With Richarlison and Lucas Moura being the only two attacking options behind the front three, this could also be a boost.
Of course, there is every hope that everyone stays fit for the season but if there are injuries to the front three and the 21-year-old can work hard to impress, he will create a battle between the substitutes. Things could still change over the course of the day but if Gil does remain in north London, it may not be all bad news for him or Spurs.
