‘Brutal’ - Daniel Podence makes Nottingham Forest decisions claim with Morgan Gibbs-White comment

Wolves goalscorer Daniel Podence believes there have been ‘brutal’ decisions go against his team in games against Nottingham Forest this season, following the 1-1 Premier League draw at the City Ground.

The winger drew Wolves level with just seven minutes left to play on Saturday afternoon, cancelling out Brennan Johnson’s first half goal. It means Wolves stay above Forest in the Premier League table, with just one point separating the two teams.

As with the last meeting between the two teams, tempers flared both on and off the pitch. This time it resulted in two red cards being shown to backroom staff, with Forest’s Alan Tate being sent to the stands.

The Video Assistant Referee also checked for a red card for Podence for an alleged spit at Johnson in stoppage time. But a review concluded that no red card should be awarded.

Following the game, Podence spoke to the media, where he made a comment about refereeing decisions over the meetings with Forest. The Wolves goalscorer also made a reference to former team mate Morgan Gibbs-White.

"I'm very happy with that and a goal today. We had a difficult match in front of us and we got one point in the relegation fight,” he told BBC Sport.

"It was very frustrating because we had a lot of the ball but they had the best chances. I was looking at the time and we had a lot of time to win this game.

"I played against Forest last year in the cup and this year the matches have been brutal in terms of decisions, which are very complicated against us and make us feel frustrated. Morgan has a bit of joy to provoke our fans. It's difficult to explain this rivalry."

Forest are back in action on Tuesday night when they take on Leeds United at Elland Road. The Whites fell to a 4-1 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
