- Arsenal is reportedly nearing completion of a deal to sign Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes , the 28-year-old Brazil midfielder.
- Newcastle had initially rejected a formal offer from Arsenal earlier this week, despite Guimaraes having indicated his desire to move to the Emirates Stadium .
- The Magpies, who signed Guimaraes for £35 million in January 2022, valued the player at approximately £80 million.
- Guimaraes was a pivotal figure for Newcastle, leading them to their first major domestic trophy in 70 years by lifting the Carabao Cup last March.
- His potential departure follows a series of high-profile exits from Newcastle this summer, including Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and manager Eddie Howe , posing a significant challenge for the incoming head coach.
