Bruno Guimaraes has thanked Eddie Howe for helping improve his heading after the Brazilian playmaker opened the scoring against Brentford in style. The Newcastle United midfielder had not scored with his head prior to moving to St. James' Park.
Now, the midfielder has two to his name after Howe highlighted it as an area of improvement having watched the Brazilian's DVD prior to signing. Speaking to NUFC TV, Guimaraes said: "The gaffer has put in big work because when I arrived here he said 'Bruno, when I watched your DVD you never score with your head. I will work with you and you'll score with your head.'
"After this I scored two goals! Thanks gaffer, you're important to my life and I want to keep going with this. I'm really very happy with the best days in my life and thanks god for this."

"I think it was important in the last game against Fulham, important for the confidence in the boys and today as well," Bruno added. "An Amazing day for me, I'm very proud of the boys, of the gaffer - we worked a lot this week on pressing up [the field].
"We recovered two balls in their box and we scored two goals. I'm very grateful for the boys."
However, the Newcastle head coach played down the praise from his star man. Howe said: "I have to laugh at that, Bruno is very kind. I wouldn't necessarily say that's something we've overly worked on with him but I'll take it.
"Personally, I think Jason Tindall and the coaches who worked on set-pieces deserve a lot of credit for that move. It's something we work hard on and I've also got to compliment Tripps' [Trippier] ball, I thought it was incredible for it.
"Bruno has still got a lot to do, he's still actually a long way out and it was great to see it nestle in the corner. His second goal for me was the key moment in the game because the game is in the balance, but what a finish from distance."
