Bruno Guimaraes has shared a picture of his newborn son after helping Newcastle pick up a huge win against Tottenham on Sunday evening.
Guimaraes started the match for Newcastle despite travelling down late to north London by himself and getting no sleep following the birth of his first child, Matteo, on Saturday. The Brazilian midfielder has been in brilliant form for Eddie Howe's side since joining for £40million from Lyon in January and he maintained his standards against Spurs.
First-half goals from Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron were enough for the visitors who held on after Harry Kane halved the deficit to move into the Premier League's top four. The result capped a magical weekend for Guimaraes, who took to Twitter after the match to share his delight.
Alongside a picture of his son wearing Newcastle's black and white stripes, he tweeted: "This is for you guys! Two days without sleep could be at home but I always wanted to be here with you! Thanks for the support and a kiss from Matteo to you!! He is Brazilian Geordie."
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the 24-year-old said: "They (the club) have been amazing days for me, to become a father for the first time. It's been incredible. I've had two days without sleep. I would stay home but I love to be here with these guys. They make me happy and proud, and I think we deserved it today.
He added: "It was one of the best days of my life. I'm very happy and proud. It's been like a dream. I don't have words because it's amazing what has happened in my life. I say thanks to my family. It's been difficult but it's all worth it."
Guimaraes posted an emotional tribute to his partner, Ana, and son before the game on Instagram. "Welcome to the world son! It is with great joy that I announce the arrival of my first son, without a doubt today is the best day of my life!" he wrote in a caption translated from Portuguese.
"First of all I want to congratulate you my love, you are a warrior you were and you are, after everything you've been through in your life see you do all the strength, go over each contraction and the love you've already shown for our son no there's an explanation!!
"I respect you more every day for the woman you are! Definitely the woman of my life! I don't think I've ever had a true sense of a mother and father's love for their child is something unique and today I get to see that, as much as I thought that was possible it didn't even come close to the love I feel for my son!
