Bruno Fernandes reveals Manchester United target after breaking unwanted record

Bruno Fernandes says he is targeting even more goals from set-pieces after Manchester United finally netted from one against Leeds at the weekend.

United's struggles in dead-ball situations have been well documented this season, and the club will be hoping to have turned a corner after their opening goal at Elland Road.

Ralf Rangnick's side finally scored from their 140th corner in the Premier League this term when club captain Harry Maguire headed in from a Luke Shaw ball into the box.

It was a moment of sheer relief for United, and now talismanic midfielder Fernandes is looking to use that goal as a springboard for more success from dead ball situations this season.

"I hope we get more goals from set-pieces from now," Fernandes told club media.

"Obviously, everyone has been working a lot on that.

"When you don't have the rewards for the work we have been doing, it's something we get a bit sad [about] but obviously we scored now and it's about having the same focus when we do the corners, the free-kicks and whatever it is, and score the goals.

"You know, sometimes the delivery is not really good or the header is not really good. Sometimes, we're unlucky with some rebounds in the box and, say, some offsides. That's it.

"It's time to get the focus in all of the game, when we have to get that chance to attack the goal of them by the set-piece and having the same focus on doing what we have done in the training sessions what we've been working on for all this period, to get the results."
