Bruno Fernandes reaches Manchester United milestone with Old Trafford appearance vs Bournemouth

Bruno Fernandes made his 150th appearance for Manchester United against Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Fernandes signed for United in January 2020 from Sporting Lisbon for an initial fee of £46.6million and he won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for his first six months at Old Trafford after contributing 12 goals and eight assists.

The midfielder collected the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award again in the following season and he's now contributed a total of 53 goals and 44 assists during his almost three years spent in Manchester, which have seen him become a fan favourite.

Fernandes has continued to be an integral part of the first-team with Erik ten Hag in charge and he's started in 23 matches from a possible 25 fixtures across all competitions this season, which is a record only matched by David de Gea.

The 28-year-old recently lauded Ten Hag for reinstalling discipline at the club, saying: "I think you enjoy it when you win games. So if you are winning, everyone will be more happy. You know the strikers want to get their goals and their assists, that kind of thing.

"It’s always important for everyone. But I think the main thing for us – because we’ve been through difficult moments with changing of coaches and everything – so we find now probably a coach that gave us stability.

‘That is really important and something that was missing, and also big discipline. That was something that, for me, was massive on our team that we need – I think in every team, probably. But I think in our team we were missing a little bit of that.

"But now everyone understands that you do whatever you have to do or you are out."

Fernandes is contracted until the summer of 2026.
