Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has taken aim at VAR during their clash with Tottenham.
The Portuguese playmaker may have been absent through illness but he still tuned in from the comfort of his home. Following Cristiano Ronaldo's second goal, he directed a dig at the Video Assistant Referee amid recent criticism surrounding its inconsistencies.
Ronaldo returned from injury to fire twice beyond Hugo Lloris, after missing the Manchester derby defeat to their rivals with a hip-flexor issue. There was a brief check from Stockley Park in the build-up to the 37-year-old's second of the match but it was found that Sergio Reguillon has played Jadon Sancho onside to send the Reds in 2-1 up at the break.
On Instagram, the 27-year-old offered his support to his teammates from afar before posting: "Is finally (sic) work for us to" accompanied by a VAR GIF. It follows the growing scrutiny surrounding the technology as Fernandes becomes one of the highest-profile names to criticise its use.
In their previous home clash with Watford, Anthony Elanga was denied a spot-kick after being involved in a tangle with Hornets defender Craig Cathcart. But in the FA Cup, despite the ball clearly striking the hand of Matt Crooks, his equaliser still stood after intervention from the video assistant before Middlesbrough won on penalties.
