Bruce Willis' daughter Rumer says she loves him "to the moon" after aphasia diagnosis

Rumer Willis showed her support to her father Bruce after it was announced earlier this week the Hollywood legend was " stepping away " from his career due to his health.

Bruce's family revealed in a statement on Wednesday the actor, 67, had been diagnosed with the medical condition aphasia - which has affected his cognitive abilities.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, Bruce's daughter Rumer, 33, shared a throwback photo from her childhood and gushed she loved her "Daddio to the moon and back".

Rumer uploaded the snap which showed her pulling a funny face alongside her dad and her sister Scout, 30, and expressed her admiration for her father who she "taught me to be silly".

Rumer - the eldest child of Bruce and ex-wife Demi Moore, 59, - wrote: "I love you Daddio to the [moon] and back. Thank you for teaching me to be silly. I love laughing with you."

The post has attracted more than 60,000 likes on the social media platform, with a number of her followers taking to the comments section to send their well-wishes to the family.

It comes after Scout - who featured in the throwback - posted a more recent photo of herself and her father on social media, in which they were seen smiling at each other.

The model took the opportunity to express gratitude over the outpouring of support after the family spoke out about Bruce's health and retirement.

Scout said it had been a "humbling" experience to discover how much love, support and prayers were being direct towards the family at such a difficult time for them.

The family made the announcement about the actor- whose film credits include Pulp Fiction and the Sixth Sense - in a joint statement earlier this week on Instagram.

They wrote: "To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.

"As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.

"This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support."

Willis married actress Demi Moore in 1987 and had his three eldest children, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah.

The pair separated in 2000 but remained on amicable terms and Willis married actress Emma Heming in 2009.

The pair also share two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.
