In a heartfelt announcement on Bruce Springsteen's official Instagram account, it was revealed that his beloved mother, Adele Ann Springsteen, passed away on Wednesday. The legendary rocker paid a touching tribute to his mother by quoting lyrics from his song 'The Wish,' which beautifully encapsulate his cherished memories of their relationship.

Born as Adele Zerilli on May 4, 1925, in Brooklyn, Adele moved to Freehold, New Jersey, in 1940, where she and her husband Doug Springsteen raised their three children – Virginia, Bruce, and Pamela. Adele, of Italian descent, instilled in Springsteen the values of their Catholic faith, and they would frequently attend mass together at St. Rose of Lima Church in Freehold.

During their younger years, while Doug worked various jobs to support the family, Adele became the primary breadwinner as a secretary. Her hard work paid off when she was able to purchase Bruce his first guitar, a brand-new Japanese instrument, which would become the catalyst for his iconic musical journey. The lyrics of 'The Wish' immortalize the joy and pride she exuded as she walked home from work, carrying hope and happiness in her heart.

Though the Springsteens later relocated to California when Bruce was a teenager, he retained a strong connection to his hometown of Freehold. Adele, however, continued to dance her way through life, accompanied by her son to various local Jersey spots like The Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. Her love for dancing, instilled during the 1940s when big bands and swing music reigned, became an integral part of her being.

Despite battling Alzheimer's disease in her later years, Adele's love for Bruce remained unwavering. Even when unable to speak, stand, or feed herself, there was always a smile on her face upon seeing her beloved son. The connection between them transcended words, as she made a unique sound that Springsteen understood as a declaration of love. The power of music also continued to touch Adele's soul, especially when hearing Glenn Miller. Like a beacon of light, she would reach out to Bruce, longing to be held in his arms and dance across the floor once more.

This unwavering spirit and love defined Adele. Throughout her life, she held on to the beauty of existence, even in the face of adversity. Springsteen reflected on the essence of his mother's being, acknowledging that it surpasses language and memory, carrying her through each moment as if life's beauty had never deserted her.

Adele Springsteen leaves behind a lasting legacy and a loving family. She is survived by her three children, daughter-in-law Patti Scialfa, son-in-laws Bob Roth and Michael Shave, grandchildren Evan, Jessica and Sam and Ruby Roth, Christopher Shave and Marisa Potts, and great-grandchildren Lily Harper Springsteen, Nicole and Samantha Shave, along with an extended family of relatives.

The news of Adele's passing is undoubtedly a profound loss for Bruce Springsteen and his family. Yet, her spirit and love will continue to shine brightly, inspiring all those who had the privilege of witnessing her resilience and deep affection. As we remember her, let us join Springsteen in honoring Adele Springsteen, a woman who danced through life with grace and joy, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
