Bruce Springsteen fans pursue singer in Dublin pub - but find Dermot Kennedy instead

The hopes of Dublin Bruce Springsteen fans were dashed after they rushed to a city centre pub looking for their hero - only to find Dermot Kennedy there instead.

Dublin By Pub initially reported on Twitter that there were long queues outside the Long Hall, which has been visited in the past by the rock n roll singer. Fans began to speculate he was playing an impromptu gig ahead of his sold out concerts in the RDS.

However, the true identity of the mystery patron was revealed to be Dermot Kennedy. And he still delighted fans with a secret gig at the city centre pub, but simultaneously vexed those who were hoping to catch a glimpse of the 'Born to Run' singer.

Dublin By Pub later apologised for the disappointment caused to die-hard Springsteen fans. The rock star has visited the historical pub on several occasions on past trips to Ireland.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Queued outside the Long Hall just there, which was covered in security with ear pieces. Bruce Springsteen famously enjoys a pint there every time he visits - all the signs were right, so imagine my face, at the top of the queue, when Dermot Kennedy walks out instead."

Dermot continued his pub crawl last night with a visit to Doheny and Nesbitts. The owner quickly took to Facebook to upload a picture of the singer with four members of staff behind the bar.

The post said: "Lovely to see @dermotkennedy call into Doheny & Nesbitts last night."

The Irish singing sensation was in the capital for a unique gig in the Guinness Storehouse last Tuesday May 2. He became the first person to ever perform on the roof of the iconic Dublin landmark.

Dermot performed low-profile gigs in several pubs last night following on from the Guinness Storehouse performance, including Devitts on Camden Street. The performer hosted the gigs for the launch of the Guinness sponsored 'Live and Rising' campaign.
