The Cleveland Browns continue to be active despite still not having announced the trade for Deshaun Watson. Almost 24 hours ago, the Houston Texans made their announcement of the trade. While it is likely that Cleveland just working on contract details it is still interesting to note.
Early today we reported that QB Case Keenum was set to have a $1 million roster bonus for being with the team at the close of Friday. With that in the pocket, it seemed that Keenum was set up as the team’s backup quarterback and likely to take snaps if/when Watson was suspended.
Now comes news that Cleveland has traded Keenum to the Buffalo Bills for a seventh-round pick:
Another QB trade in Cleveland: The #Browns are sending veteran Case Keenum to the #Bills for a 2022 seventh-round draft pick, per sources.

Unless the team and Keenum came to an agreement to push back the roster bonus, he would have still received the $1 million.
The trade saves the Browns just over $6 million in cap space which can be used to add other free agents or help facilitate the Watson trade.
