Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson underwent successful shoulder surgery Tuesday, the team announced.
Watson injured his shoulder in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens but finished the game. Team doctors concluded last week, though, that the damage to his shoulder was so severe it would require season-ending surgery to repair.
The surgery was conducted by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Dr. ElAttrache has worked on other star NFL players such as Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, as well as MLB pitchers Shohei Ohtani and Zack Greinke.
Watson is expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season.

Watson finished the season with 1,115 passing yards, seven passing touchdowns and four interceptions with a 61.4 percent completion rate. He also rushed 26 times for 142 yards and one touchdown.
In his place, the Browns will lean on rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who was just named the Week 12 starter by head coach Kevin Stefanski. Thompson-Robinson played admirably in the Browns’ Week 11 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Browns also signed veteran quarterback Joe Flacco to be Thompson-Robinson’s backup alongside P.J. Walker.
