Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett is the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year for 2023. It was announced at the NFL Honors awards show in Las Vegas Thursday night.
It was the first time he won the award in his career.
Garrett had 14 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, 30 quarterback hits and four forced fumbles in 2023, playing in the league’s No. 1 defense.
He beat Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt with 165 total points and 23 first-place votes. Watt had 140 total points with 19 first-place votes.
The Cardinals faced Garrett in 2023. In a 27-0 Browns win, Garrett had just one tackle but it was a sack. He also broke up a pass and recovered a fumble.
