Browns meet with UVA WR Malik Washington at East/West Shrine

The 2024 NFL draft process is in full swing now, and the Cleveland Browns have tacked University of Virginia wide receiver Malik Washington to the list of players they have begun meeting with (according to The Draft Network’s Justin Melo).

The Shrine Game and Reese’s Senior Bowl have come to a close as we trek toward the NFL Scouting Combine at the end of the month. As the Browns look to get better this offseason, the draft is the key way to keep the roster young and inexpensive.

Measuring in at just 5-foot-8 and 192 pounds at the East/West Shrine Game, Washington is an undersized gadget/slot who thrives with the football in his hands after the catch. This past season with the Cavaliers, Washington racked up over 1,400 yards and nine touchdowns on 110 catches. He was fourth in the nation in yards after the catch, with half of his yards tacked on with the ball in his hands.

The Browns will likely address the wide receiver position multiple times this offseason, overhauling the backend of that room. If they double up in the 2024 NFL draft, landing Washington in a later round is firmly on the table.
