The Cleveland Browns have officially found their new offensive coordinator after the team fired Alex Van Pelt. The Browns have now added former Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey to replace Van Pelt, someone who has ties to Cleveland during his time as a player.
Dorsey was the play-caller in Buffalo this past season before being fired by the Bills. Despite having the Buffalo offense in the top five of every major offensive category after 10 games, the team sat at 5-5 and needed a scapegoat. Despite the record the offense in Buffalo was statistically doing great, they were just turning the ball over, and not coming up with big plays in critical moments.
In the end, Dorsey brings to Cleveland something the team needed a new voice and fresh perspective to help the Browns offense grow. The question will be back to whether Stefanski will call plays or not after hiring a guy in Dorsey who has called plays, unlike Alex Van Pelt.
Browns fans took to social media as you would expect, to react to the news of Dorsey’s hiring.
Ken Dorsey and Kevin Stefanski having polar opposite demeanors is hilarious pic.twitter.com/J9aynCxBCo

One thing that I absolutely LOVE about the Ken Dorsey hire is his track record of developing and being successful with big-armed, athletic QB’s like Deshaun Watson.
– Helped guide Cam Newton to his 2015 MVP, OPOY season with the Panthers. (Super Bowl season)
– He’s almost…

The #Browns now have four offensive coaches that have play-calling experience:
– Kevin Stefanski
– Ken Dorsey
– Tommy Rees

The #Browns will have the offensive minds of Kevin Stefanski, Ken Dorsey, and Tommy Rees on offense. I definitely expect this offense to evolve in 2024 now they have three very smart offensive minds.

Ken Dorsey was @CameronNewton’s QB coach when he won MVP for the Panthers.

Writing was on the wall the moment he got fired. Stefanski clearly wants to go heavier next season (2 TEs/RBs/1 extra lineman) and focus on a QB run game. Dorsey's entire coaching history revolves around those aspects. Ken was unjustly fired because McDermott needed a scapegoat https://t.co/EjemjfAxWZ

I will be surprised if the hiring of Dorsey comes with play calling responsibilities. Just my opinion. I imagine KS continues to call plays.

I really like it if Stefanski is still calling plays and Dorsey is the day to day guy. A chance to really prove himself in developing the passing game. https://t.co/ilwNIsHane

The #Browns have hired former Bills OC/QB coach Ken Dorsey to be the new offensive coordinator.
Bills under Dorsey:
#1 in success rate (48%)
#2 in third down conversion rate (49%)
#3 in early down success rate (47%)
#4 in rate of downs converted into a new first down (77%) pic.twitter.com/gSzDIC8YkV— Noah Schaefer (@Brownscentral_) January 28, 2024
Equating Ken Dorsey to being a bad candidate because he got fired even though the Buffalo offense got worse after he was fired is funny.

At the beginning of this season, Kevin Stefanski, Ken Dorsey and Tommy Rees were calling plays for the Browns, Bills and Crimson Tide, respectively.
Each of those teams made the playoffs this year.
Lot of offensive firepower in those three minds.#Browns

so #Browns fired 3 coaches and brought in Tommy Rees, Duce Staley, and Ken Dorsey to replace them. Can't complain about that. https://t.co/JGpLhF5tza

People love Josh Allen but act like Ken Dorsey was the problem as if Allen hasn’t looked good under Dorsey the past 5 seasons

Hoping Ken Dorsey can help bring a chip to Cleveland like he did for Columbus. pic.twitter.com/TsJH8Qv7Hz

Based on the reactions I'm seeing on here, hiring Ken Dorsey would be HATED by most folks.
Feels like it's bound to happen, so we have the dumbest possible conversations all offseason.

Firing Ken Dorsey was a mistake.
The only thing Joe Brady was better at was benefitting from Allen's interception variance. pic.twitter.com/6MmrFTQmwS
