Browns’ Deshaun Watson to serve 6-game suspension, can play vs. Dolphins

The Deshaun Watson saga has plagued the NFL for a full year, as he sat out every game of the 2021 season due to accusations of sexual misconduct in civil lawsuits.

On Monday, former federal judge Sue L. Robinson formally handed Watson a six-game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The NFL could still appeal the suspension, but the NFLPA and Watson have both stated that their side would not be doing so.

Watson was seen as a player of interest for the Miami Dolphins throughout this past year, but they ultimately decided to stay away from the quarterback when the cases hadn’t been settled and a nondisclosure agreement hadn’t been signed, according to Watson’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin.

Now, Watson, barring an appeal by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, will be able to play this season after sitting out his six games, meaning he will get an opportunity to play the Dolphins in Week 10 for a 1:00 p.m. ET matchup at Hard Rock Stadium.
